On the first weekend in December, we opened the Freeride powder season with our new FREERIDE SAFETY CAMP presented by BCA in perfect conditions in the Kaunertal!

On Friday afternoon, the arrival of almost all participants was delayed due to heavy snowfall in the valley. A good sign and the best conditions for our first elooa FREERIDE SAFETY CAMP, where we took the skills of all participants to the next level in terms of avalanche knowledge, prevention and avalanche search.

Saturday morning dawned with an incredible 40 cm of fresh snow on the hotel doorstep and lots of smiling faces. Accordingly, we got started quickly and began with the first basic avalanche transceiver introduction. At the same time, a special BCA BEACON TRAINING PARK was set up, where we were able to train for an emergency with multiple burials. After further stations such as snow profile and snow science, the freshly fallen powder was of course also tempting and the first deep powder turns of the season could be made. A short wellness break in the hotel sauna was followed in the evening by a detailed backcountry safety training session with all the details about avalanches and alpine dangers so that we were well prepared for the new winter season.

On Sunday, the sun shone brightly and, despite avalanche warning level 4, we were able to make countless powder and treeruns in the Fendels ski area instead of on the Kaunertal Glacier and test the latest K2 snowboards from the Landscape Collection.

Thus ended a special weekend, where all participants, whether beginners or advanced, started the Freeride season with professional support and returned home with valuable knowledge.

We are already looking forward to the next elooa FREERIDE CAMPS - maybe with you too!
